Woodpigeon

Yes, it's just a pigeon but it was sitting in very flattering light. The most exciting spot of yesterday was a sparrowhawk with something small and furry clutched in its talons. It flew right across the path in front of us, but of course neither of us were quick enough on the draw to get a photo.

Kingfisher

This is another one I wasn't around for. Paul woke up early and the weather was nice so he went for a walk while I dozed and researched Sunday lunch options.

Goldfinch

The weather was too grey and overcast to show the colours of this tree full of goldfinches properly. But it was nice to see them!

Greater Spotted Woodpecker

It was pretty quiet in the Aquadrome today, but we did see a couple of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers, drumming away.

Greylag goose

I was away this weekend, so Paul was walking and taking pictures without me. I thought this was stunning - at the Aquadrome there is a greylag who hangs out with the Canadian geese - but he is unhappy with the picture because of the subdued quality of the light.
